2002 Election Results
By Guy Soucy - TRA 35 Election Committee Chairman July 20th, 2002
The results are in and the Election Committee would like to give a big "thank you" to all the candidates running for office this year. As you all know, this year was expected to be a hotly contested election and in fact, balloting for the third seat for the BOD was extremely close. No anomalies were seen in the balloting. A dozen international votes were received.
As directed by the BOD, all ballots received up to Saturday, July 13th were accepted as well as the ballots returned at the Membership Meeting Saturday night. A special committee was formed to receive and tally these ballots as called for in the Election Committee BOD Voting Procedures. Thanks go to BOD members Derek Deville and Ken Good for organizing and supervising the volunteers of the General Membership Meeting Election Committee namely Curt Hughes, Ed Jacoby and Jim Hoburg, for giving some of their time to collect and count the votes. A total of three ballots were turned in.
It should be noted that the Election Committee was notified by phone call from TRA President, Bruce Kelly that several members in good standing had contacted TRA Headquaters and complained of not receiving the Tripoli Report in time to cast their vote. After a short discussion it was decided to accept a "phone in" vote from these members only. No calls were received.
Well finally here it is. Tripoli will be seeing a change. I congratulate the three new BOD members for 2002. They are Ken Good, Dick Embry and Terry McCreary. I give my most sincere thanks to Bruce Kelly for ten years of hard work for Tripoli. Your efforts were key in Tripolis growth and success. Thank You Bruce.
Thanks also go out to Les Derkovitz, Frank Kosdon and David Urbanek. You may not have won a seat, but your efforts have brought about an acute awareness to the BOD and the membership that there are different views out there that need attention. Stay involved, theres always next year. Thanks for getting people talking and attentive.
As of this writing, the BOD has appointed Dick Embry as President of TRA. The membership as well as the Board has indicated their support for you. Congratulations Dick and good luck.

This year, much was said on various Internet mediums on Tripolis policies, focus, BOD members, etc. As Election Committee Chairman, I must thank Ken Good on his efforts to communicate and answer many questions to many different people concerning Tripoli and BOD actions in a truly professional, factual and civilized manner. The election results reflect the appreciation of the membership for your efforts. I had many concerns that all the "garbagepondence" being fielded would adversely affect this years elections. Ken your work kept it a level playing field, thank you. In all fairness though, many serious issues needing honest discussion were brought up. With TRAs new members only "forum", we now have a place to get the straight scoop and discuss our "politics & policies" in house with the people that matter, fellow members. As we move forward its use will certainly become commonplace with the membership.
But that said, with all that had gone on and with the fact that this years resumes, all from noted and capable members with definite points of view, I thought some information reflected from this years election could act as a pulse of the membership. Voila, ponder on this for a while.
