How Do I Certify Level 2?
A level 2 certification allows a member to purchase and fly rockets with J, K or L powered motors. To obtain a level 2 certification the written test must be taken and passed FIRST, before the level 2 certification flight is attempted. Prefects, TAP and Board members can administer the exam. Once the exam is passed, the PERSON ADMINISTERING the exam is responsible for sending in the answer sheet to headquarters. A failed exam is to be destroyed by the person administering the exam. No record is kept of failed exams.
After the exam has been passed, then the level 2 certification flight may be attempted. If successful, an authorizing person will sign the multi part form. It is the MEMBERS responsibility to send in the certification paperwork on the flight to headquarters.
The Tripoli database will reflect the status of the flight and the exam. Certification will remain at level 1 until BOTH the written exam and the signed muti-part form are received by headquarters. If a member sent in the signed paperwork but the certification level has not changed, contact the person administering the exam to make sure that person has forwarded it to headquarters. This is the most common reason for certification level change not to have occurred.
